A first-principles sequence: question requirements, remove what is unnecessary, simplify, accelerate, then automate.
Start by challenging the requirement
The video draws on Elon Musk’s framework for getting difficult work done. Its first rule is deliberately blunt: make every requirement less dumb. Before optimising a process, ask who requested each step, what decision it supports and whether it would still exist if the work began today.
Remove before you accelerate
The sequence matters. Eliminating an unnecessary task before automating it prevents a team from becoming faster at work that never mattered. Investors can apply the same discipline to research: identify the few assumptions that change an investment result, then spend time testing those instead of expanding a checklist for its own sake.
